PowerPoint Presentations With Bitmap Images Cambridge ON

Want to make a make a PowerPoint presentaion with lots of bmp, keeping the size of the file within 1 megabite? This can't be done my friend! You see, a bmp file has a larger file size than other file formats, like gif or jpg. If you want to make a make a PowerPoint presentaion and keep it under 1 megabite, then don't use a lot of images. Or try to save your images in a different format other than bmp.Sometimes in life, things aren't possible the first time around. You have to start over and take a different approach.

PowerPoint Presentations With Bitmap Images

Steps

  1. Ask yourself, why is 1 MB the maximum file size? What with faster internet speeds and cheaper memory, 1 MB isn't so big anymore. What's wrong with having a file over 1 MB? It's not so bad.
  2. Use jpg or gif images. They take up less space. All image applications let you save a file in different formats. Save your image in a jpg or gif format. For example, here is a smiley face saved in two different formats. The first is a jpg with 2.09 kb size. The second is gif with a 2.19 kb size. If there was a bmp smiley face, it'd be a little bigger, at about 3.5 kb. (By the way, no one really uses bmp file types, so I didn't include one. Jpgs and gifs are the two of the most common.)
  3. Ask yourself, am I asking the wrong question? Am I using bmp as a synonym for "image"? You may be my friend. Take a few minutes to educate yourself on images. The internet is a useful tool for this.
  4. Are you saving your presentation on a floppy disk, and thus must keep your file around only 1 MB? That's silly. No one uses those anymore. Use a USB/flash drive. Or save it to a CD. Or email it to yourself.
  5. Can your or your recipient's email program not handle attachments larger than 1MB? That's silly. Get a new email application.
