Does your home have curb appeal

Curb appeal is a very critical marketing tool as far as selling your house is concerned. Have you given enough attention to your curb in the recent past? If your home is on a corner plot, the importance of curb appeal magnifies multifold, as your home would be projected from various angles. A good curb appeal can make the property more attractive. This is very similar to a lady donning a make up.

Here are a few tips to increase the curb appeal of your house and make it more appealing, while deciding to sell.

  1. Take a few photographs of the frontal elevation and go through the photographs in a minute way, so as to point defects and make plans to beautify the same.
  2. Upgrade the front door: Use a new door or polish the old door. It would be wise to change a few of the old metal fixtures on the door, like knobs or latches, so that the entire entrance looks new.
  3. Give your landscape a good look, and if budget permits, add a few attractive plants to it. If you are short on budget, mow the loan and trim the rest of the greenery to give it a nice, well kept look.
  4. Clean all windows and doors, change chipped glasses if any and polish the surfaces. It will help, if the exterior can get a fresh painted look.
  5. If a garage is available, clean it. Garage is normally the place which houses a lot of junk like old tires, unwanted equipments and any clutter that is normally not kept inside. Remove all of these and pressure wash the flooring, as you will find a lot of oil and fuel stains. Allow it to dry and you will have it shining.
  6. Clean all drains, outside and those connected with your roofing. These can have dry leaves which would have resulted in blocks and formation of moss. Clean the moss and give it the dry look.
  7. Have the entrance walk ways cleaned with a jet machine, so as to give the buyer a good clean reception, as he walks in to inspect the house.
  8. Good attractive lighting can have a nice effect, as some buyers drop in during the evenings.

These steps ensure that you are in a position to picture your house a perfect home and negotiate a good price during the sale process. There are architects who have special interests in increasing the curb appeal and can help you if you find yourself short on ideas. Most buyers cannot think of incorporating changes after they have made the purchase, hence it is important that you sell them a house which appeals to them in its totality.
